Take care of your heart like your life depends on it! What does that even equate to? Of course, we want to do the right things to protect our heart, but there are blind spots, confusion and resistance coming from our own brains, and then there’s the social pressure that leads us away from what’s good for our heart on top of that!
February is Heart Health Month so we are going to cover three simple tips that can make a huge impact on your ticker.
First off, you probably already guessed that bacon isn’t going to help you prevent coronary heart disease, but what is? It turns out that systemic inflammation is the root cause of CHD, like so many other first world diseases. Our power lies in getting this fiery situation under control in our bods. We need phytonutrients found in anti-inflammatory foods full of fiber, brilliantly colored, and packaged in their own skin to neutralize the oxidative stress that leads to the harmful type of inflammation.
Next, let’s take a look at our exercise, the way we move. Did you know that your body has the ability to create its own custom medicine in the right amount and at the right time? Our movement unlocks this super-power and pops open those natural medicine bottles. This was actually a Nobel Prize winning discovery and takes self-medicating to a whole new level!
The last tip that I have is to relax and live in the now. Eleanor Roosevelt is quoted for saying:
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift; that is why they call it the present.
I think this was the beginning of mindfulness, obviously not a concept that is going out of style anytime soon! What’s your way of grounding yourself in the present moment? I find that taking deep breathing sessions throughout the day refreshes and centers my thoughts.
Hopefully, you are feeling empowered and hopeful that you have a ton of control over the health of your heart! I love to help people open the doorway to their health so that they can live their intended life. Let me know if you need a partner to get on the right path and make your heart sing! It would be my honor.
Best of Health,
